Prompt: find and register a .ro domain, DNS ready
Have an agent turn a project idea into a registered .ro domain hosted on
ird DNS with the first records in place — checking availability, price and
balance before it spends anything.
Needs: ird access (MCP server or the ird CLI, logged in)
Costs: the registration fee (credits_prices → domains.register.per_year, times the years); searching and checking are free
Group: domains & dns
Paste everything below the line into a fresh conversation. Fill in the
FILL IN block first.
Task
Register one .ro domain for the project described below, host its DNS on
ird, and add the initial records. Nothing is charged until I confirm the
exact domain, years and price.
FILL IN
IDEA: a small bakery in Cluj that ships sourdough starter kits # what the domain is for (any language)
CANDIDATES: painecluj.ro, kitpaine.ro # names I already like — blank = brainstorm
YEARS: 1 # 1-10
AUTO_RENEW: yes
RECORDS: # initial DNS records, or "none"
@ A 203.0.113.10
www CNAME @
Non-negotiable rules
- Confirm before spending. Present exactly one candidate with years
and the total price, and wait for a yes. Never register more than one
domain, never a name I did not confirm.
- Balance first.
credits_balance must cover the price. If it does
not, stop and say how much is missing — don't retry.
.ro only. ird is a .ro registrar. For any other TLD stop and
point me to the bring-domain-dns prompt (host an existing domain's
DNS on ird) instead.
- One registration call.
register_domain blocks until the registry
answers. Call it once; if it fails, report the error verbatim — the
charge is refunded on failure, do not call again.
Steps
A. Candidates. If CANDIDATES is blank, run
search_domains(query=IDEA, count=10) (CLI: ird domains search "<IDEA>").
Merge with any CANDIDATES. Check them all in one
bulk_check_domains(domains=[...]) (CLI: ird jobs check-bulk ...; up to
100 per call). Show a table: name, available / taken. Keep only
available names, ordered by how well they fit IDEA (short, memorable, no
hyphens unless asked).
B. Price. credits_prices → domains.register.per_year × YEARS.
credits_balance. Show: domain, years, price, balance before and after.
C. Wait for my confirmation. Do nothing else until I answer.
D. Register.
register_domain(domain, years=YEARS, use_our_dns=true, auto_renew=AUTO_RENEW)
(CLI: ird domains register <domain> --years N --auto-renew). Hosting DNS
on ird is what makes every other ird service (IPFS sites, tunnels, VPS
anchoring, p2p domains) work on this name, so keep use_our_dns=true
unless I said otherwise.
E. Records. dns_get_zone(domain) first — ird publishes the apex
SOA/NS itself; leave those alone. Then one dns_set_record per RECORDS
line:
name is fully qualified with a trailing dot: @ → <domain>.,
www → www.<domain>.
data is typed: A/AAAA {address}, CNAME {name}, MX
{preference, exchange}, TXT {texts: [...]}
- a CNAME target of
@ means <domain>.; the apex itself can never be a
CNAME — if RECORDS asks for that, use an A record and tell me
dns_set_record replaces the whole record set of that name+type
(CLI: ird dns set <domain> <name> <type> <value...>)
F. Verify. list_domains shows the domain with its state, expiry
and nameservers. dns_get_zone lists every record you set. If a shell
is available, dig +short <name> @<nameserver> against one of the
zone's nameservers answers immediately; public resolvers follow within
minutes.
Deliverable
One table: domain, expiry date, auto-renew, nameservers, the records now
in the zone, credits spent, balance left. Then one line on the natural
next step for IDEA (a static site on IPFS, a tunnel to a local app, or a
server — each has its own prompt at https://ird.cod-sursa.ro/prompts/).
